Volume 12-02
Greetings this month from a booth in a Perkins restaurant in Austin,
MN, where I just finished off some eggs benedict and pancakes for
lunch. Yummy!
It seems like National Polka Month flew by faster than I could sneeze.
Our little one is almost three months old now! Hi big brother and
sister have fully and happily accepted their new little brother into
the family. Probably the highlight from January was our little guy's
baptism. Not only were we so happy that both sets of grandparents were
able to attend (Heather's parents drove up from KY), but our friend
and recently appointed Auxilary Bishop of the Archdiocese of
Milwaukee, Bishop Don Hying, came to our church to do the baptism.
Needless to say, it was a great weekend!
Business wise, I'm
now closing in on 130 Pint Size Polkas and Mike Schneider Band
performances for the summer, all of which will occur between June 1
and August 31 in 11 states. My goal remains 175 programs for that
stretch, although the 150 mark I hit last summer should be well within
reach. If you live or know of anyone who lives in Georgia, Illinois,
Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, or
Wisconsin, Uncle Mike is coming your way! Maps and details for many of
my performances are posted already on the
Events page here at
www.pintsizepolkas.com and on the
Schedule page at
www.mikeschneiderband.com, with more
coming in the next few weeks.
My performances in
Shorewood, WI yesterday and Le Roy, MN this morning served as a great
reminder as to why I do what I do, and also just how lucky I am to be
able to play polka music on a full-time basis. Seeing the smiles on
the kids' faces as soon as the polka music starts, teaching them how
to do the chicken dance and how to dance the polka, and providing
education through polka music on numerous subjects like math and
geography have proved to be immeasurably rewarding. I owe a great deal
of thanks to my wife Heather for coming up with the original concept,
and to you for your continued support of my music. Whether you're five
or 95, or anywhere in between, I've got you covered musically and look
forward to seeing you at one of my shows soon! Until then, have a
great February and Happy Valentine's Day!
And as always, be sure to join our growing list of fans on Facebook
